New Scheme for Disabled Persons:

The Himmat card initiative for disabled individuals will provide comprehensive information about the Nahban card scheme. The government has introduced new schemes aimed at enhancing the welfare of disabled persons, including provisions for financial assistance. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has stressed the importance of collecting accurate data on disabled individuals to ensure that appropriate support measures are implemented effectively. To enhance support for disabled and deserving individuals, the Social Welfare and Baitul-Mal departments have been directed to expedite the process of online digitization. This includes ensuring the availability of wheelchairs and other assistive devices for the disabled.

Additionally, detailed plans have been outlined for the production and distribution of wheelchairs and assistive devices. Prior to delving into the specifics of the Nahban card, an important decision must be highlighted. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has underscored the need for thorough audits of NGOs catering to the underprivileged. These audits will evaluate the extent to which NGOs are supporting disabled individuals and ensuring the delivery of their rights.

New Update on Himmat Card for Disabled Persons:

In a significant development concerning the Himmat card scheme, the Punjab government has announced its decision to issue both the Himmat card and Nihban card to disabled individuals. This initiative aims to offer essential facilities and provide necessary equipment to empower these individuals, enabling them to become self-reliant.

Loan Scheme for Disabled Persons:

Following the initial registration process for disabled individuals through cards, a new phase will facilitate those in need with access to loans of up to 2 lakh on favorable terms. Additionally, there are proposals to provide a monthly stipend of 12,000 rupees per family, possibly through a vehicle assistance program.

Recently, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the introduction of the Nigehbaan card in Punjab, with instructions issued to the Social Welfare Department accordingly. The department has devised a comprehensive plan for this initiative, which has been submitted to the government for approval. Under this scheme, beneficiaries stand to receive financial assistance totaling 307 billion rupees. This assistance will be distributed in installments of one thousand rupees, disbursed three times a year. However, the final approval of these proposals rests with the Punjab Cabinet.
